Guatemalan EPS product manufacturer ARQUIPOR partners with GREENMAX to recycle polystyrene

ARQUIPOR is a well-known manufacturer of EPS products based in Guatemala. The company offers high quality EPS building materials and EPS decorative products, involving types such as EPS mouldings, EPS columns and a number of other EPS products.

During the production process, there is no doubt that a large amount of EPS cuttings are produced. However, in order to ensure the quality of the product, most of the waste cannot be put back into production for use and has always been disposed of as scrap. As time passes and production capacity increases, more and more EPS scraps take up space in the factory and pile up like mountains.

"It's a shame to throw away EPS scrap, but we don't know how to manage it." Says the owner of ARQUIPOR. By a very fortuitous chance, a friend in Mexico recommended INTCO Recycling to the company not only as a manufacturer of EPS recycling machines, but also as an end user of waste EPS. They buy the material that is processed by the machines for the manufacture of new products. When the company heard about it, they immediately called GREENMAX to find out about the polystyrene recycling solution it offered and then decided to invest in an M-C200 EPS densifier.

In addition, the local government in Guatemala is promoting the recycling of waste to replace landfill. However, very few of the local population know that EPS is a recyclable material. This results in many commercial packaging materials that could be recycled being discarded as waste. Therefore, in addition to EPS waste from its own plant, the company plans to recycle other commercial waste in the future and to promote EPS recycling throughout Guatemala.

It is well known that most industries, including the EPS production industry in Guatemala, have been severely affected by the pandemic. At the same time, even though the price of EPS scraps has fallen dramatically, ARQUIPOR remains very determined to continue the EPS recycling programme. And, with the EPS densifier, the company organised and launched an expanded EPS recycling operation soon after the resumption of work.

After purchasing the EPS densifier from GREENMAX, the company also entered into a partnership with GREENMAX to recycle EPS blocks. The customer now has a full container of compressed EPS blocks ready for shipment in the near future. Investing in GREENMAX's polystyrene recycling programme is a very wise decision by ARQUIPOR!
